After a six-year recording hiatus, songwriter/cellist Trevor Exter takes a left-turn into experimental territory with the first of three "TRIOS" releases in 2021. Using close-capture of the cello, throbbing beats, live-coded synths and a wash of ASMR elements, this is a fresh take on ambient/electronic.
This is my first release in six years, nevertheless a lot of music has been brewing.
Taking the sound and feel of the cello from inside the fiber.
"Trio" in this instance means that there are three passes: once with the computer and then two live takes followed by minimal editing. Oh, it looks like I played an extra line on track 1. But the art is already done, ok. Well I'm pretty sure all the remaining tracks are trios.
Production standard: strictly wabi-sabi, programmed using TidalCycles.
